Childhood

dedicated to the child I used to be

my bed is high
off the ground
my feet dangle down
never touching the floor

the sun doesn't shine
through my window
the awning over the porch
puts a stop to that

the squirrels in the tree
next to the porch
run & jump
& play hide & seek
& never see me watching
longing to join in the fun

Raggedy Ann is mad at Andy
and they're both not speaking to me
and even my imaginary friend
doesn't want to play today
